Education has always been at the core of Bell Shakespeare’s work and we couldn’t be prouder of the impact of our work for students and teachers around the country. We look forward to being back in schools, theatres and communities across Australia in 2020!
In theatres, Artistic Director Peter Evans directs Hamlet and Janine Watson will be directing The Comedy of Errors. Just in case you can’t catch these shows in the theatre, we’re broadcasting them into schools nationally so no one will miss out.
We’re also launching the Bell Shakespeare Shorts Festival, a national short film competition where students play director. We can’t wait to see the Shakespeare stories that you share with us and see your communities reflected against Shakespeare’s language and characters.
The Players are back with three favourites – 2019’s smash hit Just Romeo and Juliet! in collaboration with the hilarious Andy Griffiths, and Such Sweet Sorrow and Macbeth: The Rehearsal for senior students.
Teachers won’t miss out either. There’s a Master Series at Bell Shakespeare HQ, taught by key Bell Shakespeare creatives Jess Chambers, James Evans and Huw McKinnon. And once again we’re offering fantastic opportunities for you and your students, such as the John Bell Scholarship, Regional Teacher Mentorship and Work Experience program.
