“All Australians, no matter where they live or what their circumstance, should have the opportunity to experience Shakespeare’s works.”
John Bell - Founding Artistic Director
Bell Shakespeare began its extraordinary journey in 1990 with a bold vision from our Founding Artistic Director, John Bell AO, supported by arts philanthropist, the late Anthony Gilbert AM – that is, that all Australians, no matter where they live or what their circumstance, should have the opportunity to experience Shakespeare’s works.
For the past 30 years, Bell Shakespeare has shared the timeless beauty of Shakespeare and other classics with young people, teachers, communities and audiences in every state and territory of Australia.
This year, we face unprecedented challenges. We need your support more than ever.
Bell Shakespeare simply could not do all we do without the enormous generosity of our donors, trusts and foundations, government, and corporate partners, all of whom play a vital role in supporting us to achieve our vision.
