Bell Shakespeare Residencies take Teaching Artists into some of Australia’s more remote communities, such as Tennant Creek NT, Thursday Island QLD, Menindee NSW and St Marys TAS. Here our Teaching Artists spend up to two weeks at a time living in the community and working with young people through schools and community centres.
Bell Shakespeare Residencies enable the building of long-term collaborative relationships engaging Teaching Artists with the community. This approach is educationally beneficial on several fronts, building self-confidence, encouraging group cooperation and stimulating imaginations.
Bell Shakespeare Residencies inspire a curiosity for the world beyond the bounds of the individuals’ experience and their environment, for both the Bell Shakespeare Teaching Artists and the community participants.
This incredible program would not be possible without the generous and visionary support of trusts and foundations.
