Regional Teacher Mentorship

Each year Bell Shakespeare selects 30 teachers from regional and remote schools across Australia to participate in a four day workshop at Bell Shakespeare headquarters in Sydney.  The four intensive training days include practical sessions filled with dynamic and innovative Shakespeare strategies suitable for all ages and levels of literacy; roundtable discussions about the unique challenges teachers face when teaching Shakespeare; curriculum development as well as unit planning using new skills and activities. The workshop closes with each teacher presenting what changes could be made in their approach to teaching Shakespeare, and what they will implement when they return to their school.

I learnt that I shouldn’t be afraid to step out of my own comfort zone—particularly if I expect my students to do the same!
