Mind’s Eye has seven pieces in various stages of development this year, two of which are writing commissions.
Mind’s Eye acknowledges that theatre companies are often forced to produce works for small casts, with small staging and in small theatres. Mind’s Eye sets to redress the balance by encouraging its artistic partners to develop work that takes inspiration from some of the greatest plays ever written.
It will challenge them to ‘think big’, to create works that reflect the kind of scale and ambition that Shakespeare modeled. It encourages writers particularly to be inspired, not intimidated, by the works of Shakespeare.
